Staffing Workers Compensation
We've developed the best insurance programs for staffing companies.
Workers Comp Coverage for Staffing Agencies
The temporary staffing industry is labor-intensive and frequently involves a great deal of unknowns. Insurance companies’ top underwriting worries are possible employee misclassifications and organizations placing workers in forbidden class codes. Many traditional markets do not write employment agencies because their books of business have not shown profitability.
For more than 15 years, we have assisted owners of staffing agencies in locating coverage at a lower cost. Our professionals are skilled at negotiating the best coverage prices and are aware of the underwriting specifications set forth by the insurance providers. In order to assist you in obtaining the greatest prices and the most flexible payment choices, we have created staffing plans.
We partner with the best carriers writing staffing coverage.

Workers Comp Insurance for Temp Agencies
Classification codes are used to organize employees according to their work functions and job requirements. Currently, insurance companies and brokers can use roughly 800 class codes provided by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) to classify personnel for rating reasons. To start pricing a policy, insurance firms establish a base manual rate for each class code.
Sorting employees correctly is a crucial step in obtaining quotes. Small firms may lose thousands of dollars due to incorrectly classified workers. After an annual audit, you might find that you are overpaying for coverage or that your debt has increased.
Our Staffing Agency Insurance Programs
Through collaboration with our insurance providers, we are able to provide staffing firms that satisfy carrier underwriting standards and exhibit management expertise and a dedication to handling claims with alternatives for workers compensation coverage. Our carriers are searching for specialized staffing companies with seasoned owners or management teams and a history of low workers compensation losses.
Before providing a quote, several of our insurance company programs may require a minimum premium of $5,000 and a minimum of three years of business. Our staffing program is still working well, and we’re keeping our underwriting criteria with underwriters up to date and a little looser. To find out if we have a market in your state that matches your agency’s existing profile, interested staffing firms should get in touch with us.
The most successful applicants for our Target Programs are agencies with a more unified collection of “lower-risk” class codes, long-term contract workers, project personnel, and nurse staffing. It is most challenging to quote smaller and newly established agencies with one of our carriers outside of the State Insurance Fund. We do assist employment agencies with establishing themselves inside their state pool and assisting them in moving to standard markets once their initial renewal.
Alternative State Class Codes for Staffing
States occasionally stray from the NCCI-recommended industrial class code. For some business segments, they might demand the use of a state-specific class code in place of the NCCI code.

What Does Workers Comp Cover?
Workers comp coverage protects employees when injured. It makes good financial sense for both parties.
Accidents and injuries occur. These mishaps and claims are covered by a no-fault scheme called workers compensation insurance. In most states, it’s mandated by law.
- Lost income for workers who can't perform job duties
- Medical expenses for injury or illness on the job
- Retraining expenses for employees unable to return
- Permanent injury or disability for lasting injuries
- Survivor benefits if employees are killed on the job
Coverage does not protect employers from everything. Sometimes employees and employers can be negligent.
Workers compensation insurance may not always shield employers or employees from lawsuits brought on by workplace accidents.
- Injuries resulting from a violation of the law
- Accidents resulting from using drugs or alcohol
- Injuries that did not occur in connection with the job
- Clear company policy violations
- Injuries that did not occur in connection with the job

Staffing Agency vs Temp Agency?
Most people refer to staffing agencies as temp agencies and vice versa. Traditionally, a staffing agency was known as an employment placement agency. Employees placed at a customers business are not employees of the staffing company. Their wages and the cost of insurance is paid by the customer and the staffing company receives payment separately for their service.
Temp agencies supply workers to a customers business for limited periods of times and those employees are not expected to be hired on a permanent basis. Temporary agencies typically pay the placed employees and cover the cost of insurance and taxes. Temp agencies receive more compensation but they have a much higher overhead.
